Astro newsletter form

Add a newsletter signup to your Astro site with zero JavaScript and no backend. One email field in a .astro component that posts to Formpaste, so subscribers land in your inbox or your email tool. No island required.

How to build it

  1. Create a form in your Formpaste dashboard and copy its access key.
  2. Copy the markup above into a .astro component or layout.
  3. Replace YOUR_ACCESS_KEY_HERE with your access key, then build and deploy.

Astro gotchas

An Astro contact form is a plain form in a .astro component that posts to Formpaste. It ships zero JavaScript and works on a fully static build. You only reach for an island if you want an inline success message instead of a redirect.

Zero JavaScript by default

A form with action set to the Formpaste endpoint and method POST submits with a full-page post - no island, no client script. This is the whole point of Astro: the page stays static and fast.

No SSR required

Because the form posts to an external endpoint, you do not need Astro's SSR or an adapter. output stays static and the form works the same on any static host.

Islands only if you want inline JS

If you prefer to stay on the page and show your own success state, move the form into a framework island (client:load) and use the React or Vue onSubmit from the toggle. For a redirect-to-thank-you flow, no island is needed.

The hidden access_key wires it up

Keep the hidden access_key input exactly as generated. It tells Formpaste which form the submission belongs to.

What to get right

One field converts best

A newsletter form should ask for email only. Every extra field lowers signups.

Confirm before you celebrate

Show a subscribed message on success. If you need double opt-in, send the confirmation from your email tool, not the form.

Push to your email tool

Forward submissions to your ESP with a webhook so new subscribers land where you send campaigns.

How it works

Three simple steps for form submissions to land in your email inbox.
Create your form, set your form's action URL to Formpaste's endpoint, and add your access key.

1

Create your form

Sign up, verify your email, and create an access key in your dashboard.

2

Copy the code

Paste the snippet above into your project. Pick CSS or Tailwind to match your site.
