Contact forms for Next.js

Build a working contact form for your Next.js app with no API route and no server code. Preview it live, then copy the code in your styling of choice. Submissions go straight to your inbox - spam filtered automatically.

How to create a Next.js form

  1. 1

    Create a form in your Formpaste dashboard and copy its access key.

  2. 2

    Pick your styling above and copy the React/Next.js code into a client component.

  3. 3

    Replace YOUR_ACCESS_KEY_HERE with your access key, then deploy.

Add a Formpaste contact form to my Next.js app. Use a client component that POSTs the form as application/x-www-form-urlencoded (URLSearchParams) to https://api.formpaste.com/submit with a hidden access_key input. Do not add an API route.

Or connect the Formpaste MCP server to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Claude Desktop, VS Code, or any mcp-remote client. See the setup guide.

App Router or Pages Router?

Both work, because the form POSTs directly to Formpaste - you never touch a Next.js API route or a Route Handler. In the App Router, put the form in a client component ("use client") if you want the onSubmit fetch shown in the React tab above; if you’re happy with a full-page POST and a redirect, a plain <form action> works in a server component too. The Pages Router is the same story.

Handling the response

The fetch example returns once Formpaste accepts the submission. Show a success message by tracking state after await fetch(...), or set a redirect URL in your form’s dashboard settings and let Formpaste send the visitor to a thank-you page with no client code needed. Either way there’s no server of your own to run.

Why not an API route?

You could proxy through /api/contact, but then you’re back to writing a mailer, handling spam, and storing submissions - exactly what Formpaste exists to remove. POSTing straight to https://api.formpaste.com/submit keeps your Next.js app static-friendly and deployable anywhere, including static export.

How it works

Three simple steps for form submissions to land in your email inbox.
Create your form, set your form's action URL to Formpaste's endpoint, and add your access key.

1

Create your form

Sign up, verify your email, and create an access key in your dashboard.

2

Copy the code

Paste the snippet above into your project. Pick CSS or Tailwind to match your site.

export function ContactForm() {
  async function onSubmit(e) {
    e.preventDefault();
    const form = new FormData(e.currentTarget);
    await fetch("https://api.formpaste.com/submit", { method: "POST", body: new URLSearchParams(form) });
  }

    <form onSubmit={onSubmit} className="mx-auto flex w-full max-w-md flex-col gap-4 rounded-xl border border-gray-200 bg-white p-6 shadow-sm dark:border-gray-800 dark:bg-gray-950">
      <input type="hidden" name="access_key" value="YOUR_ACCESS_KEY_HERE" />
      <label className="flex flex-col gap-1.5 text-sm font-medium text-gray-900 dark:text-gray-100">Name

Add your access key

Replace the placeholder with your access key to start receiving submissions.
