Contact forms for React

Build a working contact form for your React app with no backend and no API route. It is one component with a submit handler that posts to Formpaste. Preview it live, copy the code in your styling of choice, and submissions land in your inbox - spam filtered automatically.

How to create a React form

  1. 1

    Create a form in your Formpaste dashboard and copy its access key.

  2. 2

    Copy the React component above into your app and pick your styling.

  3. 3

    Replace YOUR_ACCESS_KEY_HERE with your access key, then deploy.

Add a Formpaste contact form to my React app. Use a component with an onSubmit that POSTs the form as application/x-www-form-urlencoded (URLSearchParams) to https://api.formpaste.com/submit with a hidden access_key input. No API route, no backend.

Or connect the Formpaste MCP server to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Claude Desktop, VS Code, or any mcp-remote client. See the setup guide.

Just a component and a fetch

A React contact form is a component with an onSubmit that posts to Formpaste. There is no API route, no mailer, and no database - you copy the component, drop in your access key, and submissions arrive in your inbox. It works the same in a Vite app, Create React App, or any React-based framework.

Handling the response

The endpoint returns JSON (success, message, id). Await the fetch and set a piece of state to show your own success or error message, or set a redirect URL in your dashboard settings and let Formpaste send the visitor to a thank-you page with no extra client code.

Controlled or uncontrolled

For a simple contact form, reading a FormData off the form element on submit is the least code. Switch to useState-controlled inputs when you want to validate as the user types. Either way the final POST is the same.

How it works

Three simple steps for form submissions to land in your email inbox.
Create your form, set your form's action URL to Formpaste's endpoint, and add your access key.

1

Create your form

Sign up, verify your email, and create an access key in your dashboard.

2

Copy the code

Paste the snippet above into your project. Pick CSS or Tailwind to match your site.

export function ContactForm() {
  async function onSubmit(e) {
    e.preventDefault();
    const form = new FormData(e.currentTarget);
    await fetch("https://api.formpaste.com/submit", { method: "POST", body: new URLSearchParams(form) });
  }

      <input type="hidden" name="access_key" value="YOUR_ACCESS_KEY_HERE" />
      <label className="flex flex-col gap-1.5 text-sm font-medium text-gray-900 dark:text-gray-100">Name
